Can someone explain the difference there would be between a pimple on your lip line and herpes? The spots arent very noticable, just to me because i can feel them. they are a little bit painful. they look like deep pimples. if i push out from the inside of my mouth on them, they kind of turn white.

I went out drinking the other night and drank from a friends(whos a frat brother) beer. 3 days later i now have a dryness/burning above my lip. Ever since i drank from the beer i have been paranoid i got herpes. The feeling above my lip is scaring me. I live in a very cold and dry climate and was outside a lot of the night. I also play with my facial stubble and sometimes irritate the skin. Is it possible this is herpes? Or is it an irritation from the dryness, dehydration and rubbing of my stubble?
also, the sensation isn’t really localized. it seems to be the whole area above my lip rather than one particular spot.
And there is no visible red rash at all

I used to get cold sores frequently when I was young, more recently I very rarely have outbreaks on the same spot on my lower lip. But I just got one under my nose, a place I haven’t had any sores in maybe ten years. Also a week before this outbreak I got a pimple or razor burn in the exact spot under the nose and I popped it. My questions is does this mean I was reinfected? I haven’t kissed anyone or any kind of imtimate contact with anyone recently. Is it possible to get reinfected with the same kind of herpes? Did this have anything to do with the pimple?

Last month I grew a cluster of pimples on chin… But at first it started off looking like a big red pimple and I started picking at it to make it pop so that it would go away. That’s when I realized that there were about 2 or 3 pimples clustered together (at least that’s what I think they were). My skin is dark so i can’t really tell what color they are but im pretty sure they’re not red or white. My mom seems to be convinced that its Herpes but i haven’t been involved in any sexual activity besides kissing ever. They haven’t popped or blistered or split open. Occasionally they’re a little crusty. There is no pain or itching or irritation. The last few girlfriends I’ve had didn’t have any thing on their mouths and I always make sure not to eat or drink after people. I have hsv1 according to my blood work but i have never ever had a cold sore….all my past boyfriends havent gotten anything from me down there from giving them oral…so i went online just to read up on it and it says that mostly someone with hsv2 can give hsv2 to someone, not from soenoe most likely who has hsv1?…can someone explain…

Hello, so I’m 16 years old and have been getting cold sores ever since I was a very little boy. Not just that, but I seem to be one of those unlucky few who are particularly prone to the Herpes Simplex virus. I get about 6 outbreaks a year, sometimes more. My frequent cold sores have caused me much psychological trauma throughout my childhood, ESPECIALLY in high school. Up until now, I have never even had a girlfriend, nor have I kissed a girl, purely because of my cold sores.

Anyways, about a month ago I, along with my parents, decided that this situation I’m in is just simply not fair, and that enough is enough. We went to my doctor who took pity on me and prescribed me a popular drug called Valtrex. Basically, Valtrex is a medication containing a chemical effective in combating the virus, and is typically prescribed for people suffering from genital herpes. I’m supposed to take one 500 mg tablet a day as a preventative measure, and take 3 at 5 hour increments during a day when I feel an outbreak coming.

Since I’ve been on Valtrex, I haven’t had one outbreak. However, it’s only been a month and I have gone much longer than this outbreak free before, so I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or not. But assuming it’s working, this leads me into my current situation.

I recently acquired my first girlfriend and we have been seeing each other recently. We have kissed each other a few times. I did not have an outbreak, nor did I feel one coming on at any time. However, I read somewhere that I can still be contagious even without outbreaks? Is this true? Bear in mind I’m on Valtrex, does that suppress my contagiousness in anyway? I’m incredibly worried that I might pass it on to her. If this happens, my life is totally ruined. She would never want to talk to me again, and I would probably kill myself.

One more thing, kind of unrelated: approximately what percentage of American TEENAGERS are infected with HSV-1? Also, what percentage of people infected with HSV-1 are asymptomatic? Your answers are greatly appreciated, thanks.

I was at a concert last week…very hot and thristy i was able to catch a bottle of water from an artist on stage (who had just previosly drank from it) Out of thirst i drank from the bottle as well only to realize that because of his status he might be infected with herpes…I would like to know the likely hood of me actually contracting this. Assuming he was infected, since there was no outbreak at the time, and since much of the water was flushed out in the process of throwing it into the crowd- what is the likelyness of me getting this? im sure its possible? but really how likely?

(he didnt drink out of it for a long time, if any the bottle barely touched his lips)
